I was born and raised in California until middle of 5th grade when we moved to Kenai, Alaska. I graduated from Kenai Central High School and moved back to California for about a year before Alaska called me back. I have one daughter who is 21 and going to school at UAA.
I worked in hotel management for 18 years before I retired from hotels and then worked for Ahtna Native Corp for 6 years as Chief of Staff for the CEO.
Everyone I know told me I was good with pets and kids, so I decided it was time I gave back to others who had given to me. That road lead me to Lumen where I am now. I chose the kid route thinking they would be less stinky than pets. Boy, I was wrong!
Sports has been a huge part of my life. I played baseball most of my younger years and was on multiple All-Star teams in California and Alaska. I then moved onto football and basketball in high school. My biggest honors were in football my senior year where I was named to the All-State defensive team as an outside linebacker and was named to the Alaska All-American Defensive Team. My senior year in high I was named Athlete of the Year for Kenai High School.
I currently coach at Lumen, I am a (NFHS) National Federation of State High School Associations Certified Basketball Official and I still play in the Adult 40A league at the YMCA.
I am a firm believer in sports making you a better person and giving you a good work ethic. I believe in going all out and never giving less than 100% I have sacrificed my body over the years for the sports I love.
