Principal’s Update:

Many thanks to the Ramirez, Trzaska, and Thorsness families for manning our information table at the St. Benedict Festival of Ministries after Masses last weekend.  Thanks also to the Michaelson, Locke, and Trzaska families for helping set up and clean up a wonderful Homecoming Dance! We had nearly 40 Lumen students and guests at both the Friday bonfire and the Saturday dance.  A great time was had by all!

A special shout out to our soccer teams!  Our Chapel of the Archangels has been bursting at the seam at 7:15am on game days as our student athletes lead the way by celebrating Mass as a team before school.  Way to go, Archangels!

This week’s SportsLeader Virtue of the Week is RESPONSIBILITY; the strength to always do what I was given to do or do what is expected of me due to my decisions.  As Proverbs 28:13 states, “He who conceals his sins prospers not, but he who confesses and forsakes them obtains mercy.”  As University of Alabama football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant echoed, “When you make a mistake, there are only three things you should ever do about it: (1) admit it, (2) learn from it, and (3) don’t repeat it.”  We encourage you to continue the conversation with your son or daughter about what it means to them to be RESPONSIBLE.  What does it mean to be irresponsible?

Have a safe and blessed weekend!

School Announcements:

Halloween Carnival

Our sister school, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton is having their annual Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 26 from 6-8 p.m. and would love to have Lumen help in running the games. Please let Mrs. Gore at our Front Desk know ASAP if your student(s) can help. This is a great way to earn share hours and support our sister school!

Junior High Retreat:

The first day of our Junior High retreat has been a success! Students made sandwiches for adults at the Anchorage Rescue Mission and ‘birthday bags’ for homeless kids and teens and Clare House and Covenant House then picked up trash along Jewel Lake Road. Tomorrow (Friday) they’ll be helping with clean up at the Anchorage Cemetery so don’t forget to have them dress for outdoor weather. Once finished at there, they’ll be walking to the Anchorage Museum. Please send them with a packed lunch as well as any rakes or landscaping tools that may help at the Cemetery. Students should arrive at the normal 7:45a start time but will be delayed getting back to the school, arriving at approximately 2:00p.

As a reminder, your Smart Tuition account will be billed $30 to cover the cost of rental vans, today’s pizza lunch, bowling, museum and service activities. You’re welcome to send money for snacks at the Museum tomorrow.

PVO (Parent Volunteer Organization)

PVO will host its first meeting of the year and it’s everything you ever wanted to know about getting your Parent Share Hours completed easily, painlessly, and nearly in one fell swoop! Mark your calendars and join Gerianne Thorsness on Tuesday, October 9th from 6:30-7:30p in the Library. Snacks will be provided.
