Our school gym in now closed as the folks from Alaska Industries begin to tear out the old floor and remediate any damage underneath. As mentioned last week, we expect this project to take over a month, so we appreciate your patience, and your prayers, as we replace our gym floor.
Please pray for all our students, staff, and chaperones as we spend Thursday and Friday on high school retreat at St. Therese’s Camp or doing junior high activities here in the school and around town. While we are taking time out of the academic classroom these days, we have found that holding these retreats early in the school year help build community and camaraderie among our students that pays dividends for the rest of the year.
Thanks to everyone who was able to help for high school homecoming and/or bring your junior high students to movie night last week. Both events were well attended and it seems like the kids all had a great time.
Finally, I look forward to seeing as many parents as possible for our first Principal-Parent Forum of the school year next Tuesday, September 24th. Social hour (wine and snacks) starts at 6:30pm in the Student Room, with the official meeting beginning at 7pm in the library. I’ll be sending out a more detailed proposed agenda on Monday, but I see us discussing uniform vendors, the future of the Parent Volunteer Organization, Gala support, gym and bus updates, cell phone policy, recruitment and retention efforts, social/family opportunities, and more. I hope to see you here!
The Campus Ministry Office is located in the school library, students and parents are always welcome to stop by!
We welcome Miss Ginny Dauses from Annapolis Maryland for our High School Retreat.
Join us for 7:15 Mass in our school Chapel each morning!
Please consider sending your high student to the Glory Bound Winter Retreat – see the flyer below.
Calling all musicians and students who love to sing!!! Come join our School choir! Please see Mrs. Loeffler in her Library office.
All eligible students are invited to be trained as altar servers for our school Masses. Interested students please see Mrs. Loeffler.
We invite all confirmed Catholic students to serve as Extraordinary Ministers. See Mrs. Loeffler for more information.
If you know of a worthy cause in need of volunteers let us know so we can get the word out!
Please remember the following in your prayers this week:
For our students on retreat this Thursday and Friday
Thanksgiving for our rain to sate wildfires
First responders to the fires
Victims of violent crimes
Our national and world leaders
For the sick and infirmed
Any prayer requests that families would like listed here in Lumen News and also in the Lumen Prayer Book of Intentions may be sent directly to Mrs. Loeffler.
All are invited to join us for Mass at 7:15 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays Fridays in our School Chapel.
Pray for Peace. Act in Peace.
